The Importance of Living in Joy

How to live JoyfullyALWAYS!

Remaining in joy will keep you grounded. God wants every child of his to live stable lives –regardless of what is going on around you. No child of God is a victim.

Here are important things to remember:

• Joy will keep you thankful even when things around you don’t make sense.

• Joy is a fruit of the born again spirit; it is not natural.

• Remember the “natural man” will be happy based on what he can see. The bible tells us that there are two realms of life— the spiritual realm and the physical realm.

• Everything we see comes from the spiritual realm. This is such a fundamental point everyone must know and understand.

• The just shall live by faith. If you are moved by what you can see, touch, feel, hear, smell – you will not be able to live by faith.

o Why do you need faith? Hebrews 11:6 — Without faith it is impossible to please God.

o If your life is governed by what you can see, feel, touch, hear, etc. you will be subject to the schemes and deception of the devil. This is an important factor you must know. – 1 John 5:4 – AMP – For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].

  1. Being Joyfulis an instruction from Gods word.

Philippians 4:4-9 — New King James Version – 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

a. No instruction from Gods word is for his benefit. Every instruction given to us from Gods word is for our own good.

b. Since this is an instruction —- you need to understand the what it means to rejoice in the Lord and how to rejoice.

  1. If God tells us in his word to rejoice ALWAYS, it means we can!! God would never tell us to do anything we can’t.2 Peter 1:3 NLT – By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
  2. Rejoicing is an act of faith in God – ensures you live beyond your feelings. The choice to rejoice will frequently go against how you feel. Feelings are natural responses to what is happening or what you are going through.
o 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight
o Hebrews 11:3 – Contemporary English Version – 3 Because of our faith, we know that the world was made at God’s command. We also know that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen.
o Nehemiah 8:10 – NKJV – 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
